A Father's Grip...
Is multi-dimensional indeed. He has a super tight grip on you the first time he ever holds you as he welcomes you into this world because he does not want any harm to come to you! That same grip continues for a few months, but eventually, he's got to let you fall so you can learn how to get up and walk. He softens his grip a bit in order to empower you and to teach you many things but mainly trustworthiness. His grip reminds you that you are very special to him and that he will always be there for you! !
Then like magic, you become aware of your emotions and he starts to not only have a grip on your hand, but of your heart, mind, and soul! Where's daddy? You ask yourself as he plays peekaboo or hide and seek, feeling anxious because he makes you feel alive! But as you grow older and daddy goes to work, you really wonder where Daddy is. Is he coming home to me ever again? And yes, he shows up like clockwork at about five or so every day longing for your loving and tender embrace!
Soon you hear some louder voices coming from mommy and daddy- and you wonder where daddy went because he's got a grip on your feelings of feeling safe! He's your Superman and now he's gone, and didn't have dinner with you? Oh no! Fear creeps in, But then he returns a few hours later, and he caresses your fears away!
He is around your activities enough to encourage you through your teens and early college days to teach you courage and his grip on you is ever so so strong, but it's a grip of love, hope, respect, and a mutual understanding!
An understanding that no matter what happens, a strong bond, a strong grip that exists between a father and child can never be broken if the Grip was placed there out of unconditional love!
