Have you ever given anyone an "A" for effort? I have, on many occassions! Why do we do that? I beleive that most of us appreciate honest effort, sincere hard work, and we take pride in those who don't quit. The "A" is symbolic of the attitude from people and their effort being put forth or the effort we perceive that people are putting forth.
Are we always looking for that perfect grade of "A"? No- I'm convinced that a letter grade does say a lot about a person, but it can't always be a true measure for a person's internal drive and capacity. If we think about it, a lot of people will probably give more A's for effort put forth than an academic grade after we leave our formal schooling! What significance does this "A" for effort have than your normal academic "A" grade?
