Hi MaxPower 2U nation! Are you overwhelmed by something right now? Have you started to doubt your ability to accomplish a certain task? Today's blog will explore the feeling of being overwhelmed and what you can do to make it subside.
When someone feels overwhelmed they can often feel stressed, worried, erratic, tense, ridged, unfocused, etc., but the good news is that it's only temporary and that there are ways to make it subside.
One of the ways to overcome the feeling of being overwhelmed is to take notice of all the times during your day that you have to yourself away from others-even if that time is for only 2 min, you must start to utilize this time to help you settle yourself down.
What you must do is start to think back at all the times in your life when you felt free with out any worry about anything. When none of your thoughts were on everyday concerns and responsibilities. Think about as many times in your life as you can, eyes closed in the process, and begin to channel those sensations you felt during those moments. Try to feel the way everything around you made you feel and how wonderful a feeling that was. Take slow deep breaths during this process to allow yourself to be relaxed and without strain (If you are having trouble remembering moments like those, think instead of the next moments in your life that will be filled with this free feeling).
As you begin to do this, your mind will begin to take the focus off being overwhelmed and instead focus it on the positive.
Another way to shed the feeling of being overwhelmed, is to talk to someone that can help you make sense of what you feel overwhelmed about. You can ask for their opinion or advice and suggestions about your issue, allowing you hear a different perspective on the matter. If you feel comfortable, it's also advisable to talk to more than one person, possibly a group of people.
Getting a different perspective, and possibly other approached to your issue, will help deflate the tension and stress you may be experiencing. Exposing your mind to this valuable information will allow it to reflect and be reassured that being overwhelmed is more a making of our own self creation and easily subsided.
Hearing all of the perspective that people are providing you will help to sooth that part of your brain that is giving you this feeling. Hearing all of the encouragement and motivation as well will be just what you needed.
The key to this issue to be able to separate yourself from the things that remind you of the whatever it is causing you to feel overwhelmed. You must be able to walk away and forget about, if only for a little bit, the feelings bringing you down.
Once you separate yourself, we also suggest that you listen to music if you can, or spend some time playing a game or surfing the internet on your phone. Anything that will put your in a state of relaxation and mental calm, thereby taking the focus off being overwhelmed.
If you allow yourself not to be overwhelmed it will allow itself not to be. It may sound strange, but it's very true. Just as you allowed your mind to become overwhelmed by your thought process, so can you allow it to not feel that way.
So the next time you feel that you are feeling overwhelmed, just remember that it's only temporary. You have a powerful mind that is capable of overcoming anything. And No one issue that you are confronted with can ever overwhelm you again because you won't allow it.
