Do you remember the day you graduated? We are now even participants and witnesses to many more graduations than ever before due to social media! We can even go back and upload our old memories and reminisce with our friends and families in a blink of an eye.
Much congratulations to all of you new 2013 Graduates- you deserve lots of acknowlegement for accomplishing a huge milestone on your way to becoming a "productive citizen". You have come to the next level of your life!
Quick question- who really determines when someone is ready to move on to the next level? The teachers, principal, or the Superintent? Even if you test well and you handle all aspects of school with ease, it is absolutely normal and okay to have some sense of social anxiety about the next transition phase of your life! And it's also highly encouraging when you plow forward and attack your goals and dreams head on with no one stopping you in the process.
Either way, I would encourage you to talk to your parents even if you think that they are going to want to solve your problems and not really listen to what you are dealing with emotionally. This will make them feel included and appreciated for making a difference in your life. It will make it a lot easier on you when you have to make those after graduation plans and you need their continued support!
On the flip Side of the coin, It is always best practice for parents to always be open to what their graduates are expressing about their upcoming future and the tough decisions they might be facing. A son/daughter may have spoken to a military recruiter and enlisted in the armed forces without letting his/her parents know for fear of being forced to do what parents think what is best for them!
Don't think for one second that you have the ultimate power to force their destiny upon them. They will love you no matter what, but remember how you felt when you graduated and you had to try and convince your parents that you knew what you were doing and what you really wanted!
With that said, "Pu a little MaxPower into your life!"
