What a question you might say- But to some degree, we all stop and wonder why we sometimes don't take action when we know its the right thing or more importantly, the necessary thing to do. Why is this? Some of us may rationalize and say, "Well, I guess that I'm not ready or it's just not my time." Others may say, "I don't have the necessary skills to pursue anything like that." And so on and on, when we all know that although they are valid excuses, if we look a little bit deeper inside our souls, we might find that four letter word lurking in every corner you look into. Yes, FEAR creeps up and shows its ugly face once again to stop you cold in your trail.
How did we get FEAR into our mental systems and why does it have such a strong grip on our lives? Why does it stay in our mind and creates the very things we don't want? Lots of repetitive encounters with situations and people of influence helped give birth to the fear based emotional responses that you adopted, embraced, and nourished. They became reality for you out of someone else's beliefs for you. Wild how that happens...but the mind is so powerful that way!
As simple as we can explain, FEAR is an emotional learned response based on the beliefs that you hold to be true whether real or perceived in your mind. If you have given enough power to something that you believe strongly about, like "spiders are dangerous and they might hurt or even kill me", then you will avoid them like a plague from a place of deep seated FEAR. The same is true about anything you can think of. Like public speaking, parenting, pursuing a career, selling a product, etc., etc. The learned and accepted beliefs that you hold tightly based on fear, will always keep you from stepping forward and meeting fear head on. Can anyone overcome FEAR? Absolutely-many have and are enjoying their lives to the fullest just like you can if you are willing to confront your own FEARS.
How do we combat FEAR?
1. Acknowledge your fear. Embrace it.
2. Ask where that fear originated and truly understand it's power and control over you.
3. Ask if the fear is working for your best interest.
4. Substitute a new belief and implement it for over 90 days.
5. Find a support person that will help you through the process.
6. If you fail once, twice, or more, don't give up- you will be successful.
With that said, "Put a little MaxPower into your life!"
