Have you ever been in a situation where you tell yourself, "I can do this, especially if I pretend that if I don't, I will die or someone I love will die!" I know I have! Especially when I was in the Navy working on the flight deck of the CVN 70 US Carl Vinson. No matter how many training videos or simulators I was put through, I still found it very intimidating and horrifying to be working so close to jets that could blow you off the deck which could make you fall over 100 feet to a very solid and cold ocean! I wasn't even afraid of the Sharks getting me, but the thought of them was secondary to being in charge of a multi-millionaire dollar airplane. But no matter how afraid I was of the task at hand, I couldn't let my fellow shipmates down and had to work throught the pain! The pain of working in a sight restrictive, noise restrictive, and fast paced environment! Talk about learning on the fly!
The key to my success was knowing that I could trust my mentors! Knowing that they had actually done the job before and if they could do it, I could do it too! I also stayed focused on my goal of being a great ship mate and becoming a great plane captain. It was very rewarding when I found myself training a newby to maneuver the flight deck after I had mastered it.
I have tried to apply this life strategy in every area of my life! And yes- I've had to fight through the pain in some areas, but persistence always seems to make things bearable!
So I ask you to challenge yourself! If you have made any goals for yourself, I invite you to follow them consistently through the pain for over 30 days! Your persistence and focus will get you one step closer to your dream!
With that said, "Put a little MaxPower into your life!"
