Are you open to learning? I'm talking about the real stuff that isn't taught in formal schooling. The stuff that you learn in the hallways, gym, or practice field when adults aren't lurking or watching. Even if we weren't open to learning how to socially interact, we were forced to become a part of the act. We either had the lead or the supporting role, but there were some that would have liked to stay away inside a dark hole. We were all dealing with sprouting and growing!
It's the Type of learning that forces us to push ourselves to learn about ourselves around other people. We are constantly learning different human cues like if someone is happy or if someone is blue. We learn their mannerisms and they are learning ours. We learn about people's devotions and what their real values seem to be. We talk about what our perceptions are about other people and what we think about what they think.
We challenge each others point of view and we even compete to see who's really telling the truth. We tell each other what our dreams and goals are for the future. We often question what, who, why, how and then think that maybe you are doin it all wrong. We ask around and try to find out if what you heard is really the truth or do we? At that age, we usually took it for what it was and then we told our parents that everyone is doing that.
So what are we really doing when we go to school? I often told my kids that you're primarily going to school to learn and to get prepared for the next phase of their lives, but I quickly realized that formal learning usually took a back seat to human learning. I ran the scenarios that I went through and how valuable they were for me. I decided to never disregard their social interactions and how they may have affected them. It's a huge part of how we become who we become until we finally truly figure out that we are all

Talk to your children and never ever disregard their social interactions, instead listen and learn for an opportunity to guide them in the right direction.
