Good afternoon honored guests, family and friends!
As we all know, everyone embarks on a journey of self discovery and purpose!
My brother, Command Master Chief John D. Mendoza, is no exception. He, like many, endured a ton of challenging obstacles and fought his way through a tough childhood and adolescence in order to earn the right to enlist in the United States Navy in 1984!
I am witness- and I am very proud to represent our family on behalf of Juventino and Maria Luisa Mendoza who were responsible for his birth. For Tia Victoria "no quitting" Garcia, the one responsible for his up-bringing, a wicked strong sense of integrity and an incredible sense of work ethic. For the community of Mercedes Texas who adopted him with open arms and showed him acceptance!
We are incredibly grateful and honored to know that with all your help, John D Mendoza, rose to the occasion and served our country with pride, due diligence and grace for 30 years! Wow- 30 years and he still wears a smile on his face.
As he reluctantly passes the Naval torch that has been his beacon for the last 30 years, he will for sure take up a new journey and with no doubt, make an impact elsewhere as he takes on a new challenge and purpose! The Navy, who has given him a solid foundation and immense opportunity to practice his leadership skills, will remain a close family for a lifetime!
As your family and friends, we salute you and thank you for the selfless service you have given to your country, but most of all, we all love you for the person you've become along the way!
With pride and honor-
Your brother, Joseph Herman Mendoza, fellow Navy veteran!
