Have your children ever amazed you with a statement, a talent, a relationship, a grade, etc. that was a bit surprising? You are so baffled that you wonder, "How did they do that? Or you wonder, "Where did they get that from?" I have three kiddos and they all have amazed me with their own unique personalities and talents. And yes- I have asked, "Where did they get that?"
Back to the question, "Do parents know best?" Well, the question is relative isn't it? It all depends on what topic you are talking about. In other words, if you learn to be grateful for the blessings that are bestowed on your children, you will see their own special magnificence and understand that you don't know everything that they do. Like learning to play guitar, you're good at it, but your kid has learned the whole Beatles album both on electric and bass guitar. Or you can draw, but your child has learned 3d perspective and draws circles around you literally. Sometimes this happens very early for some parents. Kids that are born with a huge IQ easily surpass the academia knowledge of their parents.
But don't panic- the one thing that we as parents have is life experience. We have had enough time on Earth to develop our EQ (Emotional Intelligence) knowledge! Yes- the more we develop our personal potential and seek to maintain a healthy balance, it is these qualities that we can help to pass on to our highly talented kiddos. They will always rely on us to model characteristics that remind them to stay grounded, humble, and loving.
So even if we don't always know best, we can work to give them a platform to express their given talents and continue to be grateful for their blessings!
With that said, "Put a little MaxPower into your life!"
