Hi MaxPower 2U nation! Today's blog has to do with pressure and how we deal with it. Regardless of your trade, craft, job, career, etc., there is always some type of pressure for you to finish something on time or at a certain quality level. From projects to papers, pressure is a constant thing in our lives. How you respond to it has always been the key to whether you earn the success you seek or not.
Instead of telling you how not to respond to pressure, we are only going to focus on how to utilize and perform up to it. Thinking only of the ways to manage pressure, your mind and body will simply convince itself that it is just common place and do it without even a second thought.
When dealing with a pressure situation you must first see yourself finishing the task in your mind. You must visualize what it will feel like when you finish it. You must immerse yourself in the thought that no challenge will keep you from attaining that feeling of accomplishment and success.
You must also provide yourself with the work environment where it will be best for you to do your most effective work. Whether it be playing music or closing your door to drown out excess noise. You must create the environment that will keep out any added stressors.
This next strategy is also effective for those that play a sport. When faced with a pressure situation you must remember to enjoy and embrace the experience and not shy away or get self conscious about it. You must say to yourself that you belong where you are at and that you deserve it. Say to yourself as many times as needed that you will be successful and perform at a high level. Taking deep breaths and slowing your heart rate are also helpful, but it is your mind that will dictate how you will respond to the pressure.
Be convinced that pressure is only another one of life's opportunities for you to grow and show how much you've already learned in life. You getting to the point you already are in your life should be a constant reminder that pressure cannot dominate you, but instead makes you stronger.
So the next time you feel pressure embrace it with open arms and remember that it's only another vehicle in your life that is helping you reach your MaxPotential!
With that said,
"Put a little MaxPower in your life!"
