Today, I was give a note by a third grade student thanking me for inspiring her to follow her dreams after I was honored to give a little presentation about my journey in life! It brought tears to my eyes as I flashed back to the times I almost thought I would never fulfill my dreams! I spoke about those that inspired me, specifically Cesar E. Chavez, the civil rights activist who worked tirelessly for the rights of farm workers. Little did I know, that I would be working the same fields as a young teenager where he started his selfless and heroic movement! Conditions were still pretty bad, but at least we didn't get crop dusters spraying the fields and we were offered semi-decent tap water. It was through these experiences that I too felt that there was more that I could do with my life in order to inspire others. As hard as it was for me to dream, I chose to daydream and turn myself into a super hero with the powers to cool the sun because it scorched us out there while trimming the tomatoes. I also had the power to raise the heat in the frozen early hours of the day so that my fingers would not become hyperthermic in the blistering cold. I came up with many powers that allowed me to pass the time more actively and positively and little did I know that I had figured out the power of the mind! Years later, my dream of becoming a super hero did come true and an action figure was born in my likeness- Joseph "DOZER" Mendoza, a super military warrior from Whilce Portacio's WetWorks! More than anything, I was happy that I could inspire someone else to follow their dreams as Cesar Chavez did me! With that said, "Put a little MaxPower into your life"
