How many of you have an older brother or older sibling that you look up to, admire, respect, and love? If you do, then you do know how awesome that feeling is! If you are the older sibling, then know that you mean a lot to those who followed in your shoes.
Yes, even though there were times that we hated you with every ounce of our being, it was just because we probably couldn't be like you. It was also because we could never measure up or compare to the responsibility that you were given! Inside, we were really relieved and grateful that you were the older one. It's tough to put into words how much we value you, but we try so hard to show it at times. Sometimes we fail at trying to express our appreciation- but it could be out of fear that you won't like us or love any more. You older siblings have a lot of power over us because we saw you like a substitute parent. We hold you to a higher standard and we try to make you proud of us.
In honor of his big brother, Joe Mendoza, wrote the following poem in an attempt to humbly express his gratitude...
If it wasn't for you
I wouldn't know what to do
If it wasn't for you standing up for me
I would have probably looked weak and wimpy
If it wasn't for you being there with me in the dark
I'd probably die of fear from the shadows of the tree bark
If it wasn't for you yelling at me to behave
I'd probably would've been my own worst slave
Chackled and bound by my own mental limitations
Giving in to my daily frustrations
Instead you were there so I could see and think clearer
Paving the way so that I would like the person I saw in the mirror
Thank you big bro!
With that said, "Put a little MaxPower into your life!"
